Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected that students will be able to:

- Articulate ideas with clarity and confidence, demonstrating skills in dialogue, pronunciation, grammar and comprehension.
- Use the specialised terminology of biblical and theological study.
- Apply the techniques and styles of written composition for academic purposes, including use of appropriate reference materials.
- Undertake critical reading of scholarly argumentation.
- Incorporate critical methods into their essay-writing at diploma level.
- Make oral presentations in appropriate language and style.

- Understand and use the specialised terminology of biblical and theological study (in both academic and colloquial style, and recognizing figurative language and allusions to the Bible).
- Apply the techniques and styles of written composition for academic purposes.
- Make use of appropriate reference materials and construct bibliographies in accordance with academic practice.
- Undertake critical reading of scholarly argumentation.
- Incorporate critical methods into their essay-writing at first year level, correctly documenting arguments from the Bible and primary historical sources, and using correct conventions in quotation and cross-referencing.
- Make oral presentations in appropriate language and style.
- Pronounce key terminology correctly.
- Explain the administrative language used in academic regulations and forms.
