Art of Spiritual Companioning 1

This unit introduces the Practice of Spiritual Companioning and provides a context in which to test a sense of engagement/commitment to this practice. The seminars include teaching on  

  • distinctive characteristics of the practice 
  • the human experience of transcendence and spiritual connectedness 
  • psychological considerations in  relation to personality and its influence on the spiritual aspect of being human, 
  • development of listening skills, and  
  • exploring the spiritual aspect of being human- growth in spiritual practices and emerging self-awareness.   

There will be practical sessions on giving and receiving spiritual companioning, and personal and peer supervision.

Prerequisites
Applicants should have some experience in receiving personal spiritual companioning and it is preferred that they have completed the Art of Contemplative Practice 1 (DS9201W) or equivalent.
Each candidate will be required to undergo an interview prior to acceptance into the unit - refer to WellSpring Centre website for details.
