Practical Leadership for Pastoral Ministry

Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected that students will be able to:

Undergraduate Level 2

1. Explain principles of practical leadership.
2. Demonstrate effective communication skills across a range of ministry contexts.
3. Critique theological and pastoral practices of team leadership and engagement with inter-generational and intercultural groups.
4. Discuss Biblical foundations of congregational discernment.
5. Create a personal strategic plan for effective time management and self-care.

Undergraduate Level 3

1. Critically evaluate principles of practical leadership.
2. Demonstrate effective communication across a range of ministry contexts.
3. Critique theological and pastoral practices of team leadership and engagement with inter-generational and intercultural groups.
4. Apply the Biblical foundations of congregational discernment.
5. Create a personal strategic plan for effective time management and self-care.

Postgraduate Level 9

1. Critically evaluate principles of practical leadership.
2. Demonstrate effective communication skills across a range of ministry contexts.
3. Assess the relevance of theological and pastoral practices of team leadership for engagement with inter-generational and intercultural groups.
4. Apply Biblical foundations of congregational discernment.
5. Formulate a personal strategic plan for effective time management and self-care.

Undergraduate Level 2

• Three 750-word devotional speeches/presentations (2,250 words) (45%)
• One strategic plan (500 words) (10%)
• One documented interview (1,250 words) (45%)

Undergraduate Level 3

• Three 750-word devotional speeches/presentations (2,250 words) (45%)
• One strategic plan (500 words) (10%)
• One documented interview (1,750 words) (45%)

Postgraduate Level 9

• Three 500-word (equivalent) oral speeches/presentations (1,500 words) (30%)
• One strategic plan (1,000 words) (10%)
• One documented interview (2,500 words) (30%)
• One critical review (2,000 words) (30%)
