Mission in the Australian Context

Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected that students will be able to:

Undergraduate

1. Outline and analyse selected Australian cultures & worldviews.
2. Identify and describe points of relevance of the gospel for selected Australian contexts.
3. Propose approaches to mission which intentionally engage with different communities and or cultures in the Australian context.
4. Level 3: Articulate potential implications of different approaches to contextual theology & practice with respect to the Australian context.

Postgraduate

1. Outline and analyse selected Australian cultures and worldviews.
2. Identify and describe points of relevance of the gospel for selected Australian contexts.
3. Propose approaches to mission which intentionally engage with different communities and or cultures in the Australian context.
4. Analyse and critique various approaches to contextual theology & practice with respect to the broader Australian context.
5. Articulate and evaluate shifts in contextual theology and practice in indigenous Australian contexts.

Undergraduate Level 2

• Tutorial presentations (1,000 words ) (25%)
• One critical book review (1,000 words) (25%)
• One essay (2,500 words) (50%)

Undergraduate Level 3

• Tutorial presentations (1,000 words ) (25%)
• One critical book review (1,000 words) (25%)
• One essay (3,000 words) (50%)

Postgraduate

• Two tutorial presentations (2,000 words total – 1,000 words each) (25%)
• One critical book review (2,000 words) (25%)
• One essay (3,000 words) (50%)
