Unit of Choice

The Graduate Certificate in Spirituality consists of 72 points at postgraduate level including:

  1. 24 points of units of either DP9734W Human Research Methodologies OR RQ9021Z Research Methodologies; and
  2. the 48 point unit RQ9748 Minor Thesis.

Successful completion of an undergraduate degree, or an approved equivalent.

All applicants must meet the English admission requirements of the University of Divinity as outlined in the Admissions Policy.

 

Students have 3 hours of class time per standard unit they are enrolled in across the 12 teaching weeks of semester.

Students should allow an additional 10 hours for study and assessment tasks per week for each unit they are enrolled in – that is 13 hours per unit per week.

The full-time study load for the Graduate Certificate in Research Methodology is 3 units per semester which is a commitment of 39 hours per week.

Depending on the time available for study, students can choose to study part-time by enrolling in 1 to 2 units per semester.  The Graduate Certificate in Research Methodology can be completed within the maximum 2 years allowed if students choose to enrol in 1 unit per semester.

  1. have a working knowledge of terms, assumptions and approaches to research that are current in selected theological disciplines;
  2. have familiarity with research methods, protocols, practices and ethics;
  3. apply focused research methods towards complex research issues; and
  4. apply writing and communication skills to the presentation of research results.

Graduates who meet the other requirements for higher degrees by research may be eligible for admission to the Master of Philosophy or Doctor of Philosophy.
