We are very happy to announce the appointment of our new college Registrar, Michelle Braid.
Michelle has a background in higher education, in the form of tutoring, research support and senior case management. She is motivated by a desire to support people in telling their story and achieving their unique goals. Her tertiary education began with studies in Psychology/Social Work, including completing a thesis into the gendered experiences of women in the Australian farming industry. From here, Michelle spent 8 months in Greece serving in ministry and humanitarian aid to the local Greek and refugee communities; volunteering in Europe’s largest refugee camp and working on a sailboat to support Greek Christians in the most remote islands. Michelle has been deeply involved in the Victorian Baptist community throughout her life and is passionate about continually learning, exploring and growing in Christian faith.
Michelle and her husband of two years enjoy trying new places to eat, sport, reading or watching non-fiction, and spending time with friends and family. In her spare time she also enjoy hiking the outdoors and travelling; singing and playing instruments; ice-skating; chatting about life and following Jesus; and baby-sitting her niece.
Of her transition to Whitley, Michelle says; “It has been great. The staff are very friendly and the working environment is supportive of learning, growing and innovating. I am excited to work with the teaching staff and assist them in exploring theology with those who come into Whitley. I am also excited to walk alongside students to support them in both their theological, academic journey and personal life.”
We warmly welcome Michelle into our community and look forward to the wonderful impact she will make on our students.
