Whitley Principal René Erwich’s recent book nominated for an award.

20 Dec 2022

Congratulations to Whitley Principal, Professor René Erwich, whose book (written with Rev Dr Almatine Leene), Vuur dat nooit dooft. Gender, seksualiteit en theologie in gesprek (Literal English translation: “Fire that never goes out: Gender, sexuality and theology in conversation“) was nominated for the Best Theological Book of 2022.

This prize is awarded annually for the book that makes a theological theme most accessible to a wide audience. The jury for the book prize is traditionally formed by critics of the daily national newspapers Trouw and the Nederlands Dagblad.

Vuur dat nooit dooft is published by KokBoekencentrum. Its (translated) synopsis is: How do we talk about gender and sexuality within churches and other Christian communities? Professor René Erwich and former Theologian of the Year Rev Dr Almatine Leene provide historical and scientific background information for discussions on this subject.

This impressive literary achievement has encouraged important conversation and perspectives. Soon you’ll be able to secure your copy with the English version becoming available in early 2023.

Congratulations to René and Almatine for their nomination!
