Whitley is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the 2025 Melbourne Prayer Breakfast , a significant gathering of Christian leaders who come together to pray for the flourishing of our city.
Looking back on the 2024 Melbourne Prayer Breakfast, we are grateful for the opportunity to have been deeply involved. Each attendee received a Whitley tote bag filled with thoughtful gifts, and our Principal, Rev Associate Professor Darrell Jackson, together with Whitley student Wei Min Zhang, led prayers that were both heartfelt and inspiring. We had a strong presence on the day, hosting friends, partners, and students, and contributing to the spirit of unity and hope that the breakfast represents.
This year’s focus will be on the unfolding tragedy in Myanmar, and the speaker will be Rev Dr Tim Costello, Executive Director of Micah Australia and Fellow at the Centre for Public Christianity. Dr Costello will focus his talk on the humanitarian crises currently taking place in Myanmar/Burma, and will interview Pastor Khamkual Hatzaw, who leads Cross Vision, a rapidly growing church, and home to hundreds of Myanmar refugees, in Melbourne’s east.
This theme is particularly significant for Whitley as we serve a richly multicultural community and partner with churches from many culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including those affected by the events in Myanmar. Standing alongside our brothers and sisters in prayer is a vital expression of our commitment to justice, compassion, and solidarity.
As a college shaped by faith, community, and justice, we believe in the power of shared prayer to inspire hope and action. This event aligns deeply with our mission to form thoughtful and courageous leaders for today’s world.
We invite you to join us at this year’s breakfast. It’s a meaningful opportunity to connect, reflect, and be part of something bigger. Tickets are now available and will sell quickly.
