Orientation Program

Orientation Program

At Whitley, we want our international students to feel at home. That’s why we commence your Whitley experience with an orientation session for all new international students one or two weeks before the start of semester.

At orientation, you will learn about the various services available at Whitley and beyond. You will meet the staff, explore the facilities and learn how to access valuable study tips and skills. We want to assure you that you have our support as you make the transition to life as a student in Melbourne.

Preparing for your Life in Melbourne

There are many ways you can prepare for your new life in Melbourne. When booking your flight, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to adjust to the time difference and to settle in to where you are living before the orientation session and the start of semester.

Find out more about living in Melbourne, including the cost of living, weather and public transport information at studyinaustralia.gov.au and studymelbourne.vic.gov.au.

Course Planning

You commence course planning from your home country as part of the application process, but we want to meet with you in person when you arrive, prior to semester, to get to know you and ensure you are ready to start your studies.

We also want to keep in touch with you as your studies progress, to ensure all is going according to plan.

Please contact the Registrar to make an appointment for your course planning meetings with the Dean.

Work Rights

There are some limits on working (paid and voluntary) while studying on a student visa. Find out the full details here.
