Rev Allan Demond is a pastor, theologian, educator, and mentor with a lifelong passion for helping people and communities follow Jesus with wisdom, courage, and joy. With more than four decades of pastoral leadership in Canada and Australia, Allan brings a wealth of ministry experience to the classroom, shaped by a deep commitment to preaching, spiritual formation, and a generous orthodox faith.
From 1995 to 2025, Allan served as Senior Pastor of NewHope Baptist Church in Melbourne, where he faithfully led the church through three decades of ministry. Alongside his pastoral work, he has taught at Whitley College for more than 30 years and currently oversees the Doctor of Ministry program at Melbourne School of Theology.
Allan has served the Baptist movement in a wide range of leadership roles, including as President of the Baptist Union of Victoria, a BUV Council member, and Vice-Chair of Baptist World Aid Australia. In May 2026, he was appointed Chair of the Baptist Union of Victoria Council. This role reflects his deep commitment to the Baptist family and his extensive experience in strategic leadership and governance.
At Whitley College, Allan teaches The Art of Preaching, drawing on decades of preaching, pastoral ministry, and leadership to equip students with the confidence and skills to communicate Scripture faithfully, thoughtfully, and with relevance for today’s world. He is passionate about encouraging emerging leaders and helping them develop a preaching ministry that is both biblically grounded and pastorally engaging.
Beyond teaching, Allan enjoys mentoring leaders, fostering collaboration between churches, and investing in the health and governance of Christian organisations. He and his wife, Janet, are grateful for their three adult children and their growing extended family. Together, they continue to embrace the ‘rhythms of grace’ that have sustained a lifetime of faithful ministry.
