It is with both gratitude and sadness that we share the news that Rev Carolyn Francis, our beloved Lecturer in Baptist Identity and History, will conclude her time as a full-time faculty member at Whitley College at the end of this semester.
Carolyn has been a deeply valued member of our teaching community, known for her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering commitment to her students. Her passion for Church History and Baptist Identity has not only shaped minds but also inspired hearts. Students consistently speak of her classes as engaging, insightful, and profoundly formative. In receiving this news, we were reminded by Carolyn herself of the generous wisdom she carries. With her characteristic humility, she shared that each of us has found a place at Whitley because someone before us made space. Her departure, she says, is simply another opening for new voices, fresh perspectives, and ongoing growth within our community.
Carolyn’s connection to Whitley runs deep. Her journey here began as a student, and her ongoing presence, both in and beyond the classroom has been a gift to us all. While she steps back from her faculty role, Carolyn has expressed her hope to remain connected to the college in new and different ways.
We honour that a decision like this comes after much prayer and reflection. We support Carolyn wholeheartedly as she entrusts the future to God’s leading, and we give thanks for all she has poured into the life of this college.
